It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.
