Lando Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
